Well.. It is simple.. first install linux.. see this Redhat 9 Installation guide (http://www.linuxsolved.com/forums/ftopic301.html) Then try to do your daily work with Linux then you will learn it in no time. Another approach is to Do  a short term course in any comuter education center near you so that you can have a good start with linux..
Lastly u can veiw sam's "linux in 24 hrs" type of publication but that are too much targeted for newbie..

What ricky said is true,

Make sure u hang around to learn how to open programs, how to install programs, and learn some basic command prompts.

I suggest a book called "Linux Bible" by the publisher called Hungry Minds.
