Title: How do i make postfix work with an ISP that blocks port 25?
Post by: dragonkeeper2004 on November 08, 2009, 05:49:43 AM
Im a relitive newbie when it comes to linux. all i know is what i've messed with at school/personal use. Now im trying to setup a LAMP server with WordPress blogging php script. The script sends an e-mail with your password once you sign up.

My problem is that i have ATT yahoo internet and they block port 25. here is the help document that outlines what needs to be setup to make this work. http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB400335

My blog is essentialy crippled since i cannot have new uses sign up.

Does anyone have ideas on this?

You should talk with ISP regarding the block of port 25. Ask the reason why they done it.

They block it to discourage spam. I asked if they could lift the block on my IP range and they pointed me to a service with a much more expensive access fee.

try to find out if the ISP have a mail relay and use this in your postfix config. works perfect for me
