this is my second posting today for something I thought was built into linux. When I load my dvd this is the message I get: The source can't be read.
maybe you don't have enough rights for this or source doesn't contain data (eg: no disk in drive)(error reading nav packet.
I get the same message no matter what player I use. Someoen help me out here please.

In linux, any media, before using it need to be mounted.
Though mostly its automount....
but did you try doing same as root user ?
