GTK Splash screen

hi
i am new to gtk and c programming (i used visual basic previouslt)i am using it for my college project and i am wondering how am i supposed to make the splash screen work. i designed a window with image designed as splash screen and in type selected splash but it won't work as splash screen, all the windows load at once...

I did work in GLADE (GTK programming ) but its about 6 years back, so don't remember much

Anyways you can see below link, it have information to make a splash screen
