Please help, Soyo Dragon Plus AMD sound problems
« on: December 02, 2004, 07:46:25 AM »
I have a Soyo Dragon Plus (AMD) with onboard sound. The problem is, the speakers have to be turned up all the way to here the sound. Is there any configuration or drivers that can be downloaded to correct this?

It was correctly while running the new Redhat Enterprise Workstation RHEL3 so I figure it is a driver or bug problem?

It is strange because I have to turn it all the way up, so I might have to purchase a PCI sound card to have decent sound.

Not unless there is a fix for it, I am not sure, but the board is compatible with linux, at least the website states so.

thanks for the quick response.

I feel that there could be any of the reason among three..

1. Volume setting in LINUX. look out kmixer sort of thing..

or

2. Buggy driver :: In this case look for its driver and try to install a new one.

or

3. May be wrong prediction of the Hardware by OS. You can disable your onboard audio from bios then start linux, it will ask you to keep the config of the removed hardware.. say yes.. the again restart system.. .. and shutdown.. now again enable the audio from bios , now start system, OS will ask to configur : say YES.
May be that way it can be loaded with right module !
LITTLE unscientific though ! :)
