Hi
I have installed Linux Red Hat 0.9 I have met problems with Sound Card Detection and Sound at all. I have Integrated Audio. Motherboard ASUS A7V8X-X with itegrated ADI 1980 6 chanel codec S/PDIF out interface ADI AD1980 AC'97 audio codec. Linux during installation have applide AC'97, but Sound Card Detection utility doesm't work (no sound), I cannot play any music. Please help me (Linux nebie)?
I have only integrated audio.
I have tried # sndconfig in terminal (logged as root) but no result.
In Windouws 2003 Server I used SoundMax and any problem with sound.
How can I resolve this problem Where can I get the right driver. And How can I install it. What options should I set to resolve this problem.
Are there any expert who can help me to resolve this prob????

Hi Agent 007,
There are 2 ways.
1) Use ALSA drivers. If you are new to alsa try reading this :

2)Use a newer distro like Fedora Core 2 or Suse 9.1 which supports your board out of the box.
