Problems with ymessenger
« on: May 26, 2004, 09:34:10 AM »
Iam trying to install ymessenger for linux but the messenger is hanging. It goes into connecting mode but never connects. Sometimes, I even got segmentation fault. I also, tried installing redhat version8 instead of redhatversion 9  but I am not able to launch the messenger. I am getting a segmentation fault.

Any suggestions, advise

I heard that there is patch  for that but never got it, yahoo messenger client for linux is not reliable at all, instead you can use -- 1. Kopete and 2. Gyach..

Yahoo messenger Not Connecting...
« Reply #2 on: June 19, 2004, 09:02:41 PM »
if u are not able to connect yahoo server when  it goes into connecting mode....

this is coz u have a file in "usr/bin" named ymessenger

check 4 this file if its renamed to "ymessenger (copy)"

this happens when u try to install it again.....

j

Solution.... just rename it back to "ymessenger"

and u will soon connect to server ...

have a nice time
ENJOY!!

The best way to dealth with segmentation fault with redhat9 of yahoo messenger is
(1) Uninstall current Installed ymessenger
(2) Remove /opt/ymessenger directory if exist.
(3) Install some older version.
(4) It will work. Now upgrade it with newest version.

It Will Definetily work.
