unable to start minicom on ubuntu 12.10

i have installed minicom on ubuntu 12.10 . but when i start it it only comes to minicom written in terminal and does not start. during booting ,my laptop says "unable to start portmapper :partmapper fail".
when i run the cmd "dmesg | grep tty" or with ttyUSB it does not return any value. i have checked with "lsusb" cmd that my usb bluetooth adapter is recognized. please help
