I would start with the home page for your distro.  Each distro tends to have its own way of doing these things.

I have install gentoo, but no sound. i search for help, change .asound and /etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf, even rebuild kernel, but it doesnt work.

Make sure you have unmuted everything.  Generally, everything is muted by default.  Depending on what all you have installed, you could have to unmute several things before it works.  When I first did this install ages ago, I had to unmute ALSA and Kmix.
