no disk message

please i need help to install redhat 9 i am beginer in using linux  and when i try to install it i get this message
   
No hard drives have been found
and you probably needs to manually choose
device drivers for the installation to
succeed.would you like to select drivers now

if YES the message is
--------------
the following drives have been found
ethernet 8139..
**               DONE  ADD DEVICE

        IF done is pressed we can go till DiskDruid
if I PRESS  disk druid or auto partion another message comes

    No drives found. An error has occured . no valid devices were found
on which to create new file systems. please check your
hardware for the cause of the problem.

if i press OK system is rebooting

(my disk is seagate st 380815as )

It is because ST380815AS is a SATA II hard drive and Redhat 9 do not support SATA hard drives. You should try some newer version like Cent OS 5.x or something.

Hi,

Please can you send your system configuration it will be easy for me to help you in installation procedure.
Eg:HD capacity
Type of HD
Processor used
RAM capacity

Also I would suggest you go for RedHat Linux (RHEL) 5.1 version if you are a beginner.

mind you puja that is not free . any ways but redhat 5 supports sata and seget both i have tested it without any problem.does your graphical installation interface starts normally or not

Hi,

I know RHEL 5 version is not a free s/w.I am able to install it graphically without any issues.

sorry my next question was to sadahmed........
i suppose it wont be good to suggest him to purchase some thing just for test............
so batter to go with freeware
