Is there a dial-up modem that will work with knoppix 3.7 without installing knoppix to harddrive.

Do you have internal or external modem.
Problem with me is that I have not used modem from many years so can't answer you right away atm. :)

I have an internal modem, winmodem to be exact, but what I really want to know is: If I buy an external modem i don't want to waste my money and have knoppix not find it. I guess i could just bring my copy of knoppix to a computer parts store and test it then and there, but they might not be to impressed with that. Also I deal through bell sympatico and they supply high speed modems will knoppix configure  them. I would rather use a linux operating system but thus far modems are forcing me back to windows.

Best would be if you can get external modem from any of your friend and test it on linux..

But for sure it will work :)
