Title: Can VNC give root's desktop ?
Post by: rajesh.bahl on May 14, 2007, 06:36:38 PM

Hello everyone !

Can we shift the gnome desktop of root  on Linux server to Linux desktop machine through VNC ?

The problem I am facing is that whenever I try to shift the desktop of root , I only get the background and a terminal window but not the actual desktop ! I have checked /root/.vnc/xstartup but  the same file when invoked as a"normal" user works fine.
Is there any way we can get "complete desktop" of root to a remote machine through VNC ?

I am not sure but if VNC server is started as root then only it can show root's desktop.
