Working with DNS required some basic understanding of how things works so I think you should start with a tutorial, go through following link and don't get demotivated if in beginning things are not quite clear, just finish it and you know it!
tldp.org/HOWTO/DNS-HOWTO.html

Yes, linux can be installed remotely. In redhat its call kickstart and there can be many ways to install linux remotely, can be via NFS, http etc. You need to see tutorial regarding that.

Here is one for Ubuntu : howtoforge.com/ubuntu_pxe_install_server
4  Network Troublshooting / Linux Servers Support / Re: Squirrel installtion help on: November 05, 2008, 02:43:43 PM
How you installed all above, did you install from source or from rpm ? You also need to install php as you install Apache etc.

Regarding squirrel mail, usually squirrel mail is available as serveraddress/webmail

What do you really want to do ? Make machine as DNS server for a particular website or simply caching nameserver ?
6  Network Troublshooting / General Networking Support in Linux / Re: bsnl dail-up on: November 02, 2008, 05:33:16 PM
You mean traditional bsnl dialup .. ?

First you need to know what is your modem, if its an external modem then its easy, just configure KPPP and if it detets your modem then you are all set. Or if you are unable to do with KPPP then try wvdial-command line dialer.

8  Hardware Troubleshooting in Linux / Other Devices / Re: Wireless card not recognized in linux-Compaq WL110 on: November 01, 2008, 04:48:01 PM
Which distribution you are using..
Also if hardware is comparatively older then there are better chances to get it working without problem.
9  Linux Software / Linux Application / Re: How to Transfer files from windows xp's drives to Redhat linux 9 on: November 01, 2008, 04:46:46 PM
First of all I suggest you to go for latest Linux distribution which will make it all very easy.
Go for Fedora 9 or Ubuntu 8.10 .. you will get all drives visible and can use without doing any changes.

Or else you can simply mount using old way, I had once given steps for Redhat 9 (btw mouting means making a connected hard drive available in LINUX)

Mounting HDD in Redhat 9

At above post see my reply, I have given in detail there.
10  Network Troublshooting / Linux Proxy Server Support / Re: About Gmail Blocking through Squid on: October 27, 2008, 06:44:45 AM
Hi, squid do allow https proxy but through tunneling which means it can't block sites those are on https.
You can block https sites using iptables on the machine where squid is installed.

try :
Code:
iptables -A INPUT -s gmail.com -j DROP
iptables -A OUTPUT -d gmail.com -j DROP

Above will drop all incoming and output connection to gmail.
