i installed DNS on it it runnig fine. i have regitsterd domain name...
for example abc.net. in that i have to resolve one site with othe name like pqr.net...is it possible to give ?

how can i insert cname entry in  forward and revirse zone file

Hello all

I have setup DNS server, whenever i give command for staust it show serveris running, adn also when i given thus dns server ip to lan system it resolve.. internet working fine....
i given it real ip
but i dont have domain registration.
when ever i give host command with server name it gives me errror line

host server not found : 3 (NXDOMAIN)

whts that mean?
but when i doing same configurationin in my intranet it work fine
it resolve it host and viceverssa...

please give me solution...

Hi Linux Team

 I have one problem with my linux system, i m using redhat EL4 . when ever i login through through graphical mode i can go to virtaul console by prrssing alt+ctrl+ f1 but i cant log back in graphical console by pressing ctrl+alt+F7.

I try the command startx but this also failed

Give me solution.. if i m in text mode i have to go in init 1 and then go for init 5 every time i have to do this thing.... for getting graphical mode/....

sorry for trouble.. because i m in big trouble. i have to installed one web content filtering s/w but i m not getting which one is best.....

which inclused all features like web content filter, restricting download nad upload, restricting chat...etc

Hello Everyone

Can anybody help me to configure the corporate firewall.
here i have leased line with RJ45 interface. i install two lan card in the machine previously i have Smoothwall express 2.0 in that m/c i have two lan card on which one ip for green intreface (intranet) and red interface( internet) so that internet can be shared.

But in corporate firewall there no such green and res interface...

how to share the internet through corporate firewall..

here i have problem in smoothwall log file... i m not able to kept or store log file more than two days in the server. the log files are automatically get deleted after two days.. how to increse the time period of storing the log files for a week....

 # now this line will deny those files when its eve ie evening.
http_access deny bad eve

 # now we have to allow bad rest of the time
http_access allow test

any other way to block...

and also tell is it possible to block upload also?

i installed smoothwall and running fine.....
but i was not able to restrict the yahoo messenger.. even i configure my firewall and even i block all the yahoo messenger server in squid. config file....

can anyone tell me that how to block the yahoo messenger as well as its port in smoothwall express 2.0
