Will it work, plug and play or I will have to do some configuration to get it working with my laptop running Ubuntu 8.04LTS

No idea about it but if wvdial can detect it as modem then it can be configured easliy, you may get demo piece and run wvdial .. see my tutorial in "tutorial" section about configuring "CDMA phone as modem in Linux" . Smiley
