LINUX INSTALLATION PROBLEM
----------
Immediately after TEXT is entered in boot prompt, I get a message as:

no hard drives have been found
and you probably needs to manually choose
device drivers for the installation to
succeed.would you like to select drivers now
               YES          NO
IF yes the message is
--------------
the following drives have been found LIKE --> ethernet 8139..
             DONE           ADD DEVICE

IF done is pressed we can go till DiskDruid
IF I PRESS  disk druid or auto partion another message comes
----------
no drives found
an error has occured . no valid devices were found
on which to create new file systems. please check your
hardware for the cause of the problem.

IF I  press ok system is rebooting

IF ADD DEVICE IS  PRESSED THE MESSAGE IS THEN
---------------------------------------------------------
        SELECT A DRIVER TO LOAD
If it  does not appear and you have a driver disk  press F2

Please select the driver below which you wish to load.
3COM 3C590/3C595/3C90X/3CX980....
AMD PCNET32...
AMD8111 BASED 10/100 ETHERNET CONMTROLLER......
ADAPTER AACRRAID......

NB :I have only c drive now the entire 38000 mb is free. i deleted the d
drive and made it free

i think you should check two things
1- from the bios setup check whether hard drives are properly installed.
2-if its ok then check if your choosen linux supports this perticular harddisk.

Srry grp i came after such a long time in "linuxsolved.com"....as i was bit busy.

Ok

This type of problem comes ..when the HARDDISK is SATA not IDE...

If ur HD is IDE..then u should detect HD in BOIS settings as told by aktiwari4u
or may be ur HD got damaged ...................
