HOW TO DOWNLOAD A DRIVER FOR  SEAGATE ST380817AS HARD DISK FOR INSTALLING  REDHAT ENTERPRISE LINUX  ADVANCED SERVER-1 in the same hard disk(SEAGATE BARRACUDA7200.7  ST380817AS 80GB  hard disk).
          I TRIED MY BEST. ALL MY EFFORTS WERE IN VAIN. PLEASE HELP ME........

so is it not supported by RHEL .. How do you know ?

BTW.. have you tried installing the distro lately ? if yes then where you get the problem actually ?

Dear Ricky
I will explain you in detail about the problem which I faced when I tried to install Redhat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server-1 in my Seagate ST380817AS BARRACUDA 7200.7 80GB Hard disk.
I tried both way of istallation. I will brief you below what I experienced when I tried installation in text mode:


boot:linux text -> is typed
OK SKIP
SKIP
now the message is :
----------
No hard drives have been found
and you probably needs to manually choose
device drivers for the installation to
succeed.would you like to select drivers now
*** YES NO
if YES the message is
--------------
the following drives have been found
ethernet 8139..
** DONE ADD DEVICE

IF done is pressed we can go till DiskDruid
if I PRESS disk druid or auto partion another message comes
----------
No drives found. An error has occured . no valid devices were found
on which to create new file systems. please check your
hardware for the cause of the problem.

if i press OK system is rebooting



** IF ADD DEVICE IS PRESSED THE MESSAGE IS THEN
---------------------------------------------------------
SELECT A DRIVER TO LOAD .If it does not appear and you have a driver disk press F2

Please select the driver below which you wish to load.

3COM 3C590/3C595/3C90X/3CX980....
AMD PCNET32...
AMD8111 BASED 10/100 ETHERNET CONMTROLLER......
ADAPTER AACRRAID......
[]SPECIFY OPTIONAL MODULE ARGUMENTS
OK BACK
....................

*** If NO is pressed then we get the message as :

No drives found. An error has occured . no valid devices were found
on which to create new file systems. please check your
hardware for the cause of the problem.


N.B I have only C drive now. the entire 38000 mb is free. i deleted the
D drive and made it free

Hey

Why dont you consult to your vendor..., It should be deliever by your vendor....

Previously I did this....by changing Settings in BIOS...but its not applicable for al chipsets...
