« on: August 19, 2004, 02:08:05 PM »
Hi
I program for win32 using VC++ , including API functions MFC, ATL, DCOM,COM+ libraries.
My questions are:
What kind of levels are for Linux\Unix programming?
What is low level?(e.g. for Win32 API functions).
Do Linux\Unix platforms have API functions
What is POSIX? Can GUI be programed with POSIX
What kind of GUI be programed with POSIX 12?
What are system functions for Linux\Unix programming? What can be programmed with them???
What means X- Window GNOME KDE for Linux\Unix programming?
What kind of programming can be done with GTK, GTK+, Qt..? What library is most popular and effective?
What equivalents of win32 api functions and MFC and ATL are for Linux \Unix platforms??????????????????????????
What equivalents of DCOM and COM+ are for Linux \Unix platforms??????????????????????????
Is CORBA more popular than COM+ for Linux \Unix platforms?
Are available good implamentation of DCOM\COM+ for Linux\Unix platforms
What equivalents of Direct X and OpenGL are for Linux \Unix platforms????????????

What is difference between programming for Linux Red Hat and ASP and Mandrake and Free BSD and Solaris?????????????????????
So please give me the whole picture of Unix\Linux programming and libraries and tools available for it.

What are eqivalents of messages of win32 exist for Linux \Unix platforms?
Whate are signals in Linux \Unix platforms? How can the be used?????

Please explain for new man in Linux \Unix programming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will be very grateful?
If you can please send me reoly on my E- mail:

hey the way you put loads of queries it looks like you rn't a professional. if you are a professional techie, am sorry to say, you must know how to behave in the groups. first let you get a linux book and start reading, don't try to learn everything in just one hour or so!! and please never waste others time by putting these kind of queries!!

There's no point in explaining you what is POSIX...  Please do your homework before asking like this ... you can always do a google and know what is POSIX... you just seem to make us do your work .... isn't it ?

Why do want to have an equivalent of Win32 and MFC ?? Can't you live with the native libraries and capabilities of Linux ??? If not... then please stick with VC++ and windows...

Linux programming is not just all about C++... there's a whole array of languages to pick up from... if you're trying to build GUI apps then also you can build it using wrapper classes present in that language...

PS: I'm sorry if my language sounds aggressive... I just talk that way...

My suggestion is to devide this package in small pieces with rar or zip or other like program. And make it self-ecstracting.
What do you think?????

GNUrag: Would you consider uploading some of these ebooks to my ftp server? I have  a nice collection (all legal), but it sounds like you have quite a bit more than me ;)

The address is ftp.ontheheap.net

username is freeftp@ontheheap.net
password is free

I plan on removing them once I get a chance to d/l them.

It would be hugely appreciated!
