ICMP checksum is wrong?
« on: May 05, 2004, 05:44:05 AM »
Hi guys,

Do u all have any idea what's wrong with my computer network. When i ping a website, data loss will occur occasionally.

    "ping www.yahoo.com"

If i do traceroute command, "traceroute www.yahoo.com", i will get loads of error message like this:

[root@cyberjaya root]# traceroute www.google.com
traceroute: Warning: www.google.com has multiple addresses; using 66.102.7.99

Besides that, when i try to download large files, such as a 70MB file, it will stop halfway and stop responding onwards from here, i even tried to pause and resume again. The same thing goes to SSH, where in the middle of the connection, the connection will be lost and my terminal will stop responding to my key presses.

I'm currently using Fedora as a proxy server (Squid).
Oh my goodness, it gives me a big headache.

No, actually i block icmp. I ping using by "ssh" to the squid server.
The only i ping to the outside world.

Alternatively, i will ping using the squid server as well. For your information the squid server acts as a firewall, and internet gateway as well.
