How to install LG LSP340e modem in fedora 7

(1/2) > >>

raghavan:
Hi everyone, I'm new to linux

I have a problem in installing my LG LSP340e tata indicom modem in fedora 7. It is a modem with a serial port connection.

I have a valid IP address, subnet mask address and the DNS server address too, which I got it from Windows XP while browsing the net using the command "ipconfig /all"

I tried to install the modem and when I activated it, it says " cannot connect with error 8".
Then I tried using KPPP, where I queried my modem and it does identify my modem. But when I tried to connect, it was displaying as "identifying modem" and then.."initialising modem" and then it doesnt respond. I mean that the screen was not changing,

I've been using the net with windows and just switched to fedora 7, but cant connect to internet.

Please help me in this issue.

Ricky:
Follow this Cdma phone as modem in linux

Also make sure your that your phone's baud rate is set to 115200 !!

raghavan:
This is what I got the result when I used this command in the terminal...
----------
[root@localhost ~]# wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
Scanning your serial ports for a modem.

WvModem<*1>: Cannot get information for serial port.

ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- failed with 2400 baud, next try: 9600 baud

ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- failed with 9600 baud, next try: 115200 baud

ttyS0<*1>: ATQ0 V1 E1 -- and failed too at 115200, giving up.

ttyS1<Info>: No such device or address
Port Scan<*1>: S1

ttyS2<Info>: No such device or address
Port Scan<*1>: S2

ttyS3<Info>: No such device or address
Port Scan<*1>: S3

Sorry, no modem was detected!  Is it in use by another program?

Did you configure it properly with setserial?

Please read the FAQ at http://open.nit.ca/wvdial/

If you still have problems, send mail to wvdial-list@lists.nit.ca.

Ricky:
Did you set your device's data baud rate to 115200 which has to be done in phone itself ?
Wvdial worked almost in all cases whether its USB or Serial ..
See this post :
http://www.linuxsolved.com/linux-forums/general-networking-support-in-linux/connecting-cdma-tata-indicom-using-serial-cable-for-internet-t2770.0.html
For him, it worked on both USB as well as Serial.
