Can any1 tell me how to connect nd share files through crossover cable.I'm n00b guys plz explain step by step.I want 2 learn from your help.
Thank you! in Advance
Ricky:
I think I really need to install SuSe , I never had chance to use SuSe though.
But the procedure is simple, all you need is to first connect the cable then assign proper IP to both the computer, say .. IP : 192.168.1.1 / 255.255.255.0 to windows xp box and IP 192.168.1.2 / 255.255.255.0 to SuSe box.
Now in SuSe, I think Samba is preconfigured.. you can access it via browsing windows share or typing "smb://" in browser and shall show you windows network.
May be someone who use use SuSe frequently can guide you in more detail.

No bro ,i'm n00b in linux from last week.
Ricky:
What I meant that in SuSe, it should be there already and ready to use.. just try and tell me what you get.
For windows you can add share easily and for Linux, you can add share by modifying /etc/samba/smb.conf file
There you can easily understand parameters by examples given there.
eg.
--- Code: ---[tmp]
comment = Temporary file space
path = /tmp
read only = no
public = yes
--- End code ---
This "[tmp]" set temporary file space on linux box under directory /tmp, it is writable by everyone and is viewable to everyone ie "public=yes"
Hope that shall help you.
