need guidance in configuring router
« on: January 18, 2007, 05:19:19 AM »
Dear list,

Hi to all. I am presently running through a router problem but I don't know if it is a
H/W problem or router configuration problem.

please see the diagram below

isp1---------------->| WAN1|=================LAN
isp2 --------------->|WAN2 |

Note both isp1 and isp2 are working well.

but the problem is associated with WAN1 port of the load balancing router Linksys
RV042..

when there is no isp attached with WAN1 it shows DOWN. but when any one of these two
 ISPs is attached with the WAN1 it show DISCONNECTED.

I have tested both isps with WAN2 port and found both are working with WAN2 port.

So what could be the problem with WAN1 ? it can detect where it is down or disconnected but never shows connected. and both the isps are in working condition.
is it a router H/W problem or router config problem ?

kindly suggest. thanks

I have not used any such router ie. with load balancing, you may first need to find out that how this router works, ie. how it detects and then check the criteria, may be then you can find the cause of problem.

or you may...
Secondly, try to reset the router and try swaping the wan port.

or you may....
Thirdly , consult its documentation and thoroughly read its technical specification and guidelines.

or you may..
Lastly,
try updating firmware of the router.
