Caching slow when Offline in Dial up connection
« on: October 25, 2006, 01:21:34 PM »
Hi
I use a Dialup connection in my PC  and I use Squid proxy Server..
When I hang up my dial up connection and try to access the earlier page it takes more than 3 minutes to get that page from Cache...
I know Squid is the Fastest Cache ever Built ...
Please Let me kno what changes need to be done in
/etc/squid/quid.conf
so that It fetches fast from Cache when I am offline

I have seen that squid fetches fast from Cache in such situations i
However I do not understand Why it is not happening here

OS : Suse Linux 9.2 / squid stable 2.5

Hi,

I followed the instructions given in that link...
But unfortunaltey It does not seem to work ...
It made no diffrence whatsoever...

I really Do not think one needs to use squidclient for offline caching...
I had used squid for same Purpose wherein I did not make any changes in default squid config file ( but that was a year ago when I was Working on Linux Platform I do not remember exact steps)... It just used to work fine..But that was not a dial up connection..
But in my Machine It is just not happening...It takes 5 minutes to get a static web page with very few images in it from Cache !...

Will Building The Latest Stable of Squid from Its Source Help???
