Bandwidth Management in SUSE or REDHAT
« on: September 27, 2005, 05:41:22 AM »
Hi Grp....
I want to control bandwidth in Linux......, through squid.., means I want a bandwidth controller in  Linux................, .In  squid.conf file bandwidth management is quite difficult...

If Someone actuallly did Bandwidth control among clients through squid.conf file... then plzz let me know.., as I have read the tutorials abt (something called BUCKET) in squid .conf file that is used to control bandwidth , but i can't get it....................

Is there is any  other way to do this,If yes  then plzz Help me...

Thx
Gaurav

Well. delay pools are ur solution, its very easy if you can get its essense right. I had done that using squid but that was long ago and I really forgot everything. Yes the tutorials available are really not practical. I had to research many days/ many docs to get the right essense but still I was not able to grasp it fully and resulted in loss of all after few time.

I am definately looking to work on it but I have other priorities too .:( It seems that delay pool tutorial is very much needed.

Hi

I have configured it long time ago. but at that time i used webmin tool..
Its quite easy through webmin tool.

As all things are Graphical..Ya if u do it from squid.conf file..., then my suggestion is firstly to do it using webmin tool , after that just see the new entries it made i.e check the new entries which is made by webmin tool in squid.conf file....

After that do it from Comand mode :D

If u will find any difficulty...then tell me

Cheers
