Title: acess to fat drives through linux9, howto config modem sm56

i have newly loaded desktop workstation of linux9 red hat along with win98 in c drive & backup in d drive. i am not able to mount [ actualy i dont know] vfat to it contents & start my work in linux.
also i am using sm56 pci modem. whicch is not working/ loading in linux.
Can some one guide me in simple terms howto?
