i used ipfw on freebsd router to block icq via port 5190 this seems to be working.

also add them to your badlist. and then get squid.conf to use badlist there are a few different ips these chat providders use and its not easy to totally restrict them

ok forget that.  just find out wht ports yahoo etc. use and then block that ports using acl
like put all required and one acl and then disallow all other ports.. see Squid proxy tutorial (http://www.linuxsolved.com/forums/ftopic116.html) for example.

you can also do blocking using word. like
Code: [Select]
acl badURL url_regex -i <urls xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx>
http_access deny badUrl
http_access allow myNet
http_access deny all

Below are url used by yahoo messenger.. so insider.msg.yahoo.com is the url to block..
Below are the whole URLs..
YOu can try out urself..
insider.msg.yahoo.com:80/ycontent/?&filter=1084803473&imv=1086683746&system=1081493948&sms=1086498455&chatcat=1078829707&ab2=1081690948&intl=us&os=win

insider.msg.yahoo.com:80/?p=11&c=&t=1081805867
