Title: Wine installtion problem(mounting NTFS drive)
Post by: summer00 on May 21, 2004, 01:45:41 AM
i have problems on installing wine in redhat 9, i would like to run programs that have already installed in windows partition, what i did was i mounted the XP hard drive, then execute ./wineinstall,but it said that it is not advisable to install wine under root, so i log in another user, and install it...problems came halfway saying that linux cannot find/detect any windows partition(may be its becuz normal users does not have privilege to access to the mounted ntfs drive) ......so what should i do now? thx

Well.. ntfs is not adviced to use writable so it is of no point to use ntfs. Better try to make a fake windows drive under wine and use it. See wine documentation for further clearification.
