I think Mandrake is more userfriendly.Newbies can easily start with it.
But for advance users Redhat is the best  as there exist large no of
documentation and good technical support specifically for Redhat.

See, Many people say this is good for newbies because of better graphical interface... that is good for networking... etc etc etc.... But the thing is that.... a good GUI most of the times depends on which version of GNOME / KDE is installed by default.... My overall experience is that... Redhat is not a good distribution for any purposes.... It didn't have support for mp3 (dont know about fedora)... it does not support NTFS partitions natively and you have to recompile kernel for enabling it...

Overall... Mandrake/SuSE are good distros.... Knoppix 3.4 is the best and takes lesser space on harddisk and includes most of the daily used applications on a single CD...

hi,

the answer for your question, depends upon the purpose of your work. i used both redhat and suse, but i felt redhat is handy and quite good one!!

It will also depend upon your level of expertise on Linux... Mandrake is better for new users...

I tried Slackware, Redhat/Fedora, Gentoo, Knoppix, and Mandrake :)

Redhat/Fedora and is much easier to use.  But u have headache on dependencies and rpm headaches.

To use Slackware and Gentoo is reduced headache.

To use Gentoo is so ez to intall all the program using "emerge" command dont need to bother about the rest. But a bit time consuming to install. But trust me, u will learn a lot of things about installing things from scratch.

For Slackware, it's quite a simple and fast Linux from what i used.

Don't you people think that without internet .. linux is little hard to maintain ?

Ie.. people without net can't do much with LINUX.. especially without 24 hr on internet
