Dear all,
This is Stephen after very log time logging for a doubt.
One of my client having Linux Samba server with Foxpro. All the clients are win98 and i have done the Linux Server as Win2000/Linux dual boot.
I have created all the partitions in FAT32 by win2000 Disk management and i have successfully mounted all FAT32 partitions in Linux and in have shared it in Samba for Data storage.
Here in this setup i am facing a new problem that my samba server suddenly not responds to all the Clients. When i call the server by NET USE
command from the clients i faced error not responding. At the same time,I restarted the smb service all the clients are working fine.
Why this is happening?kindly help me.
Thanks in Advance

Its actually a samba bug..
see : https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=150582
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=144865
The solution can be installing most recent version of samba if you are not already running the latest.

Thanks for the quick reply Ricky.
In this case i just forgot to inform that the current problem happens in the PCQuest 2005 linux with Samba.
At the same time, the same client having another Server running Redhat Professional 9 with the same setup and there is no problem in that network/server.
As per ur info,If it is a bug i should not receive the error in new PCQ 2005.
See i am more confused and i have more disturbed about this issue.Still i am searching for a permanent Solution for the problem.
Kindly help me..........
Thanks in Advance.

install latest samba rpm. easiest way is to run following command when machine is connected to internet.
yum update samba
Then it will show you the list of all availble latest samba binaries and will update after asking you for confirmation.

Hi!!!
I have a dedicated SAMBA server here in our office thats running on red hat 9. This problem is new for me. Have you recomplie your kernel?

Dear ronald,
Thanks for the mail.
I didn't compile the Kernel in that Server. On Sunday i have done the following.
1) Spitted the Single Server into TWO Servers.
2)Changed the DATA into TWO dedicated Servers.
3)Made the First Server for one Database and the second Server for another database.
4)Now the Server performance is slightly increased and i didn't receive any errors in Samaba for two days.
5)Put the TWO Servers under observation.
Thanks once again for the mail....
